Romans 11
God has not cast away Israel, but some are called from Israel, as some are called of the Gentiles; into the New Covenant as part of the early harvest. Remember Paul is trying to resolve difficulties between the Jews and gentiles in Rome with this letter.
11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people [physical Israel; Judah]? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
God has not rejected physical Israelites or Jews at this time, he is simply waiting for the proper time to call them; God is calling out BOTH some of Israel and some Gentiles to the New Covenant. Indeed the New Covenant is made with spiritual Israel [Jer 31] into which the Gentiles may be also called and grafted into spiritual Israel. The New Covenant is for all people’s; Israel and the Gentiles in the proper time.
The works of law keeping, cannot atone for past sin; only the mercy and pardon of God through the atoning sacrifice of Christ can cover PAST sins.Paul express his wonder at these things and the wisdom of our Great God. All these things are from the great wisdom of God that in eternity all may be humble before Him and each other.Because Israel was chosen by God to be an example, and instruction and a prophetic allegory, that we should learn from their example and not turn aside as they turned aside
